TASK BRIEF

In task 3, we are required to produce a work of design, inspired / influenced by the one we had analysed, or as a reaction to it. We should also apply the knowledge of design principles that we creation. We may use any medium and / or materials that are suitable to convey our visual message.

RATIONAL

After I looked up many different works about peace, I first sketched three sketches of different styles. Finally, I chose to continue my subsequent creation with my third sketch. I drew a little man standing on the earth. He held a barbell-shaped scale in his hand, with the words peace and war on the two ends of the scale. This achieved word and image. The little man who held a barbell-shaped scale shows symmetrical balance.

The message of my final design is how peace and war are balanced in this world. Many countries are still in a state of war. How can the world bring peace to these suffering people, and how can peace and justice be balanced in this world? These are things we should reflect on. I hope that in the future One day, there will be no more wars, riots, etc. in the world, and the little man who represents peace and justice will finally raise the dumbbell of peace and bring a peaceful future. (168 words)

FEEDBACK

General Feedback & Specific Feedback:
  1. Sketch 1: Ms. Jinchi said that the first thing she saw the sketch reminded her of LADY JUSTICE. Ms. Jinchi asked me to refer to LADY JUSTICE and make modifications. Ms. Jinchi also suggested that I make the cloth strips on the face more elegant, the scale can move a little lower.
  2. Sketch 2: Ms. Jinchi feels that the words surrounding the earth can be reduced and only placed in the upper half.
  3. Sketch 3: Ms. Jinchi thinks that the earth on the top of the villain can be removed. The dumbbells on the left and right sides can be designed into symbols related to peace and war.
In the last, Ms. Jinchi thought that the designs of sketches 1 and 3 were more interesting, while sketch 2 was more common, so Ms. Jinchi suggested that I use sketch 1 and 3 for subsequent designs.
