INSTRUCTIONS
 


LECTURES

Hard Sound effects: 
Specific sounds that are added to a film to enhance a particular action or event, such as a door creaking, glass breaking, or a gunshot.

Ambient effects: 
Background noise in a film, such as traffic, wind, or crowd noise, that helps to create a sense of environment and atmosphere.


EXERCISE 1 - AUDIO DUBBING

Instructions:

  1. Place audio files on timeline, sync it with video.

  2. Audio track: 

3 tracks for dialogue, one character one track. 

4 tracks for sound effects, 

3 tracks for ambience sound.


  1. Edit voice from female to male, male to female, human to cute animal/adult to kid: Premiere Pro → Audio Effects →Pitch Shifter → Semi tones. 

  2. Volume: Dialogue: between -6dB & -12dB, Ambience: below -20dB, Hard sound effects: Depend.

First, I have recorded the dialog by using the Voice Memos in my phone.

After done recording all the dialogs, I import all the recording and the video that given by lecturer into a new premier pro file.

Because some of the recordings speed was different with the video speed, so I adjusted the clip speed first before I start to edit the sound semi tones.

After done adjusting the speed, I edit the semi tones of the three characters.

Then, I have found some sound effects and ambience sound from a free audio download website that given by lecturer.

After download all the sound effect and ambience sound that I need, I imported them into the new track and adjust all the position of every clip.

After done adjusting all the clip, I start to adjust the audio volume. I have followed the rules that given by lecturer which is:
Volume: Dialogue: between -6dB & -12dB, Ambience: below -20dB, Hard sound effects: Depend.

After done all the adjustment, this exercise was completed. This is the final adjustment of my project 1 exercise 1.

A1-A3: dialogue tracks

EXERCISE 2 - AUDIO EDITING: SHOULD SHAPING WITH EQ

Instructions:

Record your own voice for 5 seconds for Exercise 2 submission.

  1. Voice of phone call.
  2. Voice coming from inside of closet.
  3. Voice of toilet/bathroom.
  4. Underground cave.
  5. Alien/ Orc voice
First, I recorded my own voice using the Voice Memo from my phone. The sentence I have recorded was: " Hi guys! I'm Sammi and I'm doing audio editing for this project."
